Humanscale Recognised as the Sustainability Leader in Commercial Furniture, Ranking No. 1 by the US Oracle MMQB

Humanscale, the leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance ergonomics, has been ranked number 1 for sustainability in the contract furniture industry by respected leading US trade publication MMQB, according to its new industry-wide sustainability scorecard.

In an industry where nearly every company claims sustainability as a core value, MMQB has cut through the greenwashing with something rare: verifiable data. MMQB reviewed third-party certifications, climate disclosures, and material transparency efforts across leading contract furniture brands and Humanscale came out on top.

The assessment by MMQB, evaluates verifiable data from third-party certifications, climate disclosures, and material transparency, across leading contract furniture brands, providing an unprecedented look at who is genuinely advancing sustainable practices. This includes data across leading programs like EcoVadis, CDP, B Corp, JUST, and TRUE Zero Waste.

Humanscale has EcoVadis Gold certification, a B Corp certification, an A-rating in the 2024 CDP climate disclosure and is the only company on the list to publish a full suite of climate- positive products – 29 of them, in fact accounting for 55% of its revenue in 2024. Its Chicago showroom has undergone a Design for Freedom pre-audit, and it has four facilities/showrooms with transparency credentials LEED, LBC and TRUE.

Perhaps most telling, Humanscale holds more Declare labels than any other company in the industry (20.7% of the total) and ranks second in the number of Health Product Declarations (HPD’s).

MMQB will be updating this sustainability scorecard on a regular basis to track who’s making real progress, holding the industry accountable – not just for what they say, but for what they actually do.

As an industry leader in sustainability, Humanscale is setting environmental benchmarks. MMQB underscores the importance of material health, product-level climate impact, and transparent reporting as key differentiators in the sector. With these insights, architects, interior designers and specifiers have clear guidance on which companies truly embody environmental stewardship.
