This year’s Material Matters fair spotlights a Norwegian Design Collective formed of Eikund, Lundhs Real Stone, Northern, Jensen Beds and Norsk Dun, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the sensory richness of Nordic design.  From 17-20 September at Material Matter’s new London home, Space House, the exhibition, curated by multidisciplinary studio Hunting & Narud, showcases Norway’s distinctive approach to form, function, and materiality. Alongside the exhibition, a panel discussion titled ‘Sensory Nordic Design’ will delve deeper into how natural materials and experiences shape the essence of Norwegian craftsmanship.

Offering a rare opportunity to engage with a diverse range of Norwegian products and materials, the showcase provides insight into the country’s unique contributions to contemporary design. Carefully curated clusters highlight the individual strengths of each brand and encourage meaningful interaction with the objects on display.

At Material Matters, Eikund features the Fluffy Chair, designed by Fredrik A. Kayser, distinguished by its ultra-soft Norwegian sheepskin upholstery and sloping armrests, the Hunter Chair designed by Torbjørn Afdal with saddle leather and crafted wooden frame, highly detailed and made to last, and lastly the Ry Chair designed by Sven Ivar Dysthe, with voluminous upholstery and comfort that is a true 1960s classic.

Jensen Beds

Jensen Beds, developed and built in Norway, showcase the refined beauty, quality, and functionality of Nordic design. Materiality is central to their philosophy: from precision-engineered springs to hand-finished seams, every component is chosen for comfort, durability, and sustainability.

Natural, eco-friendly materials are used throughout, meeting the Nordic Swan Ecolabel standards and the Made in Norway label for products that are authentically Norwegian; both of which reflect a deep respect for both people and planet.
