Anyone visiting the incredible Salone del Mobile in Milan this week would vouch for the fact that the competition for the best stand is tough, as the big players of the industry slug it out with giant, theatrical stages plying for the attention of the world’s furniture industry professionals.

Stands are designed by architects, starchitects, artists, interior designers and stylists and every year the bar is raised. The best are crowded with furniture pilgrims hungry to see what the latest is from their favourite brands.

USM enlisted the help of UN Studio who have made full use of the USM Haller furniture system by building a super-structure out of it with four rooms nestled within. Visitors who climb into the rooms are challenged to communicate their thoughts about their work/life.

The playful stand was awarded Trade Fair Stand of the Year by FRAME, an absolute triumph as it was up against incredible competition from fellow nominees Laufen, Capellini, Arper and Gaggenau. USM also won for Best Use of Material.

Visit the stand to experience the space for yourself at iSalone del Mobile (hall 20) this Milan Design Week – but hurry – the show ends Sunday!
