Bert Frank explores the History of luxury travel at Decorex 2023
London, 11th September 2023 – Bert Frank, the premium British lighting brand based in London and Birmingham, will celebrate the rich cultural history of custom coachbuilders with products both old and new at this year’s Decorex Interiors expo. From 8th – 11th October 2023 during the fair, Bert Frank will display an array of pendant, wall and table lights within a purpose-built luxury carriage that evokes the craftmanship and style used in elevated travel vechicles in the early 20th century.
While modern transport has developed considerably over the decades, the discussion around experience, particularly for the upper end of the market, has largly stayed the same. What does luxury look and feel like, and why should consumers invest in it? To illustrate a response to these questions, Bert Frank has created a luxury travel carriage that rekindles the design sensibilities of this historic industry, with a contemporary, ornate twist.
The exhibition will include the new Rinato range, recently launched in September this year at London Design Festival. Featuring angular, stainless-steel powder coated light shades, solid brass structural elements and premium leather panels in complimentary finishes, Rinato is the most extensive of the brand’s core ranges to date and includes eleven different configurations across three different interior functions – table lamps, wall lights and pendants/chandeliers.
As Bert Frank continues to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year with product launches that define the new vision for the brand, it unveils EOS, a new IP44-rated wall light range launching exclusively at this year’s fair. EOS features spherical light diffusers in different numbers and formations, mounted on a metal frame. The Beran Drop Chandelier (which also launched at LDF in September this year) will also join two of Bert Frank bestsellers – Colt and Arbor, to complete the exhibition’s product story.
Bert Frank believes that if inspiration to create is taken from the past, the consquences and potential impact of the designs in the future must also be considered. The 2023 exhibition stand has become an exercise in eco-conscious, circular design, with plans to re-design and reuse the stand for future exhibitions already underway.
Michael Evesque, Managing Director at Bert Frank, said: “For this year’s exhibition at Decorex, we have investigated the old world of custom coachbuilders, that created bespoke cars for the wealthy and contributed considerably to the world of luxury train travel in the first half of the 20th century.”
The craftsmanship and design detail that went into these beautiful vehicles often made them design masterpieces as well as modes of transport. Handcrafted and all unique, this process often led to ornate and highly stylised objects and interior settings.”
Evesque continues:“ With this in mind, our exhibition stand was hand-crafted completely in-house over six months by our co-founder, Adam Yeats, to emulate the spirit of this fascinating tradition. With Bert Frank’s signature brass details and the use of luxury materials, this opulent space will provide the perfect backdrop and environment to understand our latest product offering in a sophisticated and engaging way.”
The metalwork of all Bert Frank products is available in four standard finishes: Brushed Brass, Antique Brass, Dark Bronze, Satin Nickel. In addition to the wide variety of configurations, finishes and colours available for the ranges on display, Bert Frank also offers a comprehensive bespoke service, enabling extensive customisation opportunities to meet the needs of its clients.
All new ranges will be available to purchase in the UK from the autumn, pricing is available on request.
