BDG architecture + design is delighted to announce that Toby Neilson has been promoted to the position of Director of Architecture with immediate effect. In recent months BDG has seen significant new business growth in appointments for large scale regeneration and redevelopment projects in London and mainland Europe.

 

Toby joined BDG in 2013 and led the design team through key design and delivery stages of the award winning 20,500sqm refurbishment of the Sea Containers building on London’s South Bank, for the relocation of Ogilvy & Mather and MEC. Prior to this, Toby has worked on a variety of residential, commercial, cultural and mixed use projects throughout the UK, Europe, Hong Kong and China. He started his career at Peter Barber Architects where he worked on a number of award winning urban design and social housing projects before branching out as a freelance consultant on projects as diverse as urban planning in Shenzhen, private Houses in Hampstead, a school in Barcelona and a Theatre in Hong Kong.

 Toby is also leading the development of the architectural internship programme at BDG and has been a guest critic at The Bartlett School of Architecture, University of Nottingham and University of Greenwich and has been an invited speaker at Munich Technical University, Sheffield University and the Smart Design Summit.
